Tara Brach, Ph. D. is founder and senior teacher of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, and teaches Buddhist meditation at centers in the United States and Canada. A clinical psychologist, she has taught extensively on the application of Buddhist teachings to emotional healing. Tara is the author of Radical Acceptance – Embracing Your Life with the Heart of a Buddha (Bantam, 2003,) and True Refuge – Finding Peace and Freedom in Your Own Awakened Heart (Bantam, 2013.)
Hugh Byrne, Ph. D. is a senior teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington. He completed a four-year teacher training at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and the Insight Meditation Society led by Jack Kornfield. Hugh is also trained in and teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and has completed training in Somatic Experiencing, a mind-body approach to healing trauma. He is a co-founder of the Washington Buddhist Peace Fellowship.
Pat Coffey M.Ed is founder of The Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville and the co-founder of the Blue Ridge Prison Project. Pat completed a four-year teacher training at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and the Insight Meditation Society led by Jack Kornfield. He has over 30 years of meditation experience and teaches both in the U.S. and abroad. Pat is the owner of several businesses and holder of several patents.
Jonathan Foust, MA is a senior teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington. He is trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and is a certified trainer in Focusing. Jonathan completed the Community Dharma Leadership training through Spirit Rock Meditation Center. He is the creator of the Year of Living Mindfully program and a former senior teacher and President of Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. He has been leading retreats and training teachers for over 25 years.
Ruth King, is an Insight Meditation Teacher and Emotional Wisdom author and consultant. King teaches at Insight Meditation communities nationwide. She is a guiding teacher at Insight Meditation Community of Washington, DC, and a member of its Board of Directors. She is also the founder of Mindful Members Practice Community in Charlotte, NC. Ruth led an intensive weekend retreat on diversity for MTTI students.
